Brief Biography
I grew up in a small New England town. As a teen, my interests were not particularly academic. Though I loved biology, I preferred to spend my time camping, hiking, cross country skiing, wrestling, and playing football. After receiving a BA from Depauw University, I studied under David Hull at Northwestern University and joined the faculty at the College immediately after graduate school. I am married and have two children; I enjoy yoga, kayaking, classical guitar, and birdwatching.
